August 2015 Moving In The Neighborhood

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

On Tuesday, June 20th our family moved into your neighborhood! My husband Doug and I along with our daughters Jordan and Christian are delighted to be living in the parsonage on Paragon Drive. We were greeted with much love and warmth by many of you. We are very grateful to have so many of you helping us move in on moving day, and bringing us delicious food. We also know there were many more of you working diligently to get the house prepared for our arrival. We were especially touched with about 20 of you who came and prayed over us in our house blessing on Sunday afternoon July 12th.

We are happy to report we are all moved in and we are getting back into our routines. I was up early walking one morning this past walking my dog in the new neighborhood. I enjoyed listening to the birds singing, and taking in the beauty of the old farms and homes around our neighborhood. I noticed one home in particular at the end of our street had a produce stand. In fact it was difficult not to notice because the owners had signs posted in their front yard inviting passers-by to partake of their bounty. For a small donation (they use the honor system), you too can have home grown vegetables every day.

That gets me thinking about how God is already in our neighborhoods, we just have to find creative ways to tell people who may not have heard or seen Him. I love the way Eugene Peterson paraphrases this truth in John 1:14: “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes,   the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, generous inside and out, true from start to finish.” (The Message)

What a gracious invitation this family has offered to the neighborhood to want to share the bounty of what the Lord has given to them. In the same way, when you are excited about what the Lord has done, you just want to share it and give it away! I look forward to walking with you in the neighborhood and finding new ways to tell the “old, old, story of Jesus and His Love!”

Your Sister in Christ,

Pastor Mary Miller

*One way to share the story of the love of Christ is to INVITE your neighbors to “Camp Meeting” each week in August. Be sure to check out the Camp Meeting Worship Schedule in this month’s newsletter!
